Manhattan, NY – June 5, 2025 – Residents of the Grand House complex in Manhattan are speaking out about the ongoing issues of vandalism and disorder plaguing the public housing parking areas. Tenants are expressing frustration and concern over what they describe as an unsafe and mismanaged situation.
Among the most common complaints are broken vehicle windows, parking spaces being illegally occupied by individuals who do not pay for them, and a lack of response from both Housing authorities and LAZ Parking, the company responsible for managing the parking facilities.
“We pay for a parking space, yet we’re forced to park on the street while unauthorized individuals use the lot without consequences. It’s disrespectful and shows a clear lack of accountability from those who are supposed to manage this property,” said one concerned resident.
Residents also highlight the absence of security and maintenance, which has turned the parking areas into an easy target for vandalism. This has increased fear for both their vehicles and their personal safety.
Despite repeated complaints and requests for action, tenants claim that neither NYCHA (New York City Housing Authority) nor LAZ Parking has taken meaningful steps to address the problem.
The residents are urgently calling on local authorities and housing officials to step in and take concrete measures to restore order, ensure safety, and guarantee that paying tenants have rightful access to the parking spaces they are assigned.
